SDN
SDN is a software-defined network, where the control layer is abstracted from data devices and implemented using software controllers and APIs.
This approach improves performance and monitoring of the network and makes it more like cloud computing than traditional network management.
SDN is a more versatile solution compared to traditional networks. It allows administrators to manage and reconfigure the network through a single interface.
In vStack, the SDN network layer is called vStack SDN and provides virtual networks in three ways:
– VLAN (virtual network based on IEEE 802.1Q);
– VXLAN (virtual network according to RFC 7348);
– GENEVE (RFC 8926: tunneling protocol, proprietary implementation).
